New York Mart is the new supermarket to go to in Chinatown.
This place is right down the block from Hong Kong Supermarket. New York Mart seems like it is modernizing their area of Chinatown. Their displays of fish and groceries are very impressive. The market has been bustling with customers excited to shop which is great for the Chinatown community.
Though seeing new stores pop up is exciting; there is a sense of nostalgia for the old Chinatown. The part of Mott that lays between Hester and Grand has historically been mostly Mom and Pop fish, fruit, & vegetable stands. Slowly we are watching these places disappear and are being replaced by storefronts.
