Taste of Chinatown was a huge success in our community! Although we didn't participate, our line was literally out the door and spanned all the way out to Green Bo for the entire day!
Saturday was supposed to be my "off day", but as I passed by, I got sucked into the usual non stop ice cream scooping whirlwind. It just didn't stop.
That was saturday and today is tuesday at 3:00 am in the morning. For some strange reason, I have the energy to blog after working for almost a week straight. Most of my days are made up of 12-15 hour shifts of standing & scooping.
My friends wonder how I have the energy to do what I do. Although I always tell them that it's all the caffine that I drink, I think it's really just pure willpower...
When there's a family business, it's not just a job. It's a part of the family. It's the blood and the sweat that everyone has contributed. You just know that you have to do everything that you can for it and that you just come second. After your body is telling you that you can't work anymore, you just tell it that it can and somehow it lasts past that 15th hour. When it's for the family or the love of the establishment, there's a superhuman strength that does come out.
I'm not complaining. God has blessed our business with successs so we have the luxury of working hard and somehow profiting. There are many business owners that work just as hard or even harder than myself and just get by or even lose money.
