Chinatown is made up of Community Boards 2 & 3.
Here is the update after the meeting this past week from CB2:
Antony Wong, Member of Manhattan Community Board No. 2's Traffic &
Transportation; and Streets Activities & Film Permit committee was
elected Treasurer at the June 23, 2011 full board meeting at PS 3.
The full board voted unanimously to deny Jobee Restaurant (3 Howard
Street) an alteration of their On Premise license. The resolution by
the committee states that the applicant appears to have made material
misrepresentations to CB2 when they stated they would no longer
operate outside their current method of operation, until properly
filing for changes, per CB2's resolution on May 19, 2011 regarding
Jobee's renewal application. The resolution also states that Jobee was
recently shut down by the 5th Precinct on Saturday, May 28, 2011, for
holding a dance party without a cabaret license.
There will be a community workshop for the Chinatown Curbside
Management Study on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 10AM and 1:30PM, at PS
130, on 143 Baxter Street. The study, funded with $750,000 allocated
by Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez to study parking and pedestrian
congestion issues in Chinatown, is being conducted by the NYC Dept of
Transportation and Asian Americans for Equality. DOT and AAFE will
receive input from the community as to which blocks will be finalized
for the study. Solutions for the study blocks are expected to be
implemented by March 2012. For more information on the study, visit
