"Chinatown Beautification Day is a two-day weekend (Saturday, August 17 and Sunday, August 18) for high school students to explore leadership and community and to challenge themselves to think in new critical ways. Through a full day of workshops around a wide range of topics, youth learn about current social/political issues, and are given the tools necessary to get involved in their own communities and create change. Past workshop topics have included mental health, hip hop as a tool for social justice, tips on how to write cover letters/resumes, and environmental justice."

What is it like to be an Asian American designer? MOCA (Museum of Chinese in America) will be hosting a panel discussing the journey, hardship and success of Thomas Chen, Wayne Lee and Mary Ping.

For the very first time, the Coalition of Asian/Pacific Americans will be hosting their APIA month festival celebration in Chinatown on Saturday, May 18th, 2013. Calligraphers, martial artists, music bands and even balloon makers will be present for a one day event at Confucius Plaza. The best part? It's free!
