FILMING FOR MY STORY, YOUR SONG

We just finished filming for "Your Story, My Song"....

"Your Story, My Song" is an original mini docu-series featuring 6 extraordinary Chinese American entrepreneurs. Producer Wee Wan will take you on an inspirational journey to see how these entrepreneurs manage to achieve their visions while staying true to tradition. The journey of each series is captured in the medium of a new song, written from the interviewer's perspective.

VOTE FOR CYI ON THE GOOD MAKER

The Good Maker is a website in which organizations can apply for funding.  Chinatown Youth Initiatives (CYI) wants you to vote for them!

OVERVIEW OF IDEA

CYI is hosting its tenth annual Chinatown Beautification Weekend: a summer weekend of youth empowerment and community love. It consists of a city-wide high school youth conference and a clean-up of Chinatown with over 200 volunteers. Best part: high school students plan the entire weekend.

THE SPECIFICS: WHAT WILL THE $5,000 FUND?

This will be the third time we have a conference and we want to make sure more participants can attend (we usually cap it at 100). Prior to the weekend, we want to host a handball tournament for youth in the LES and Chinatown to participate and learn more about CYI. In addition, this year we added a voter registration component into the weekend as it is an important election year and we hope to partner up with other organizations in NYC to make the vote really count. $5000 will help us make the tenth Chinatown Beautification Weekend the best yet with greater capacity at the conference, a new community event prior to the weekend, and voter registration! All CYI programs are coordinated for and by high school or college aged youth.

NYONYA

I love Nyonya!

I have been going way back when it was in its old location across the street for many years.

Tonight at ate here with my friend who is originally from Malaysia and this is one of his top places to eat.

I love the Hainese chicken and their roti cani.  Their noodles were also flavorful with a hint of spiciness which was not overwhelming.

This place is definitely popping on the weekend!

UPDATE ON THE FIRE ON MOTT STREET

On Sunday afternoon, I was working at CICF and smelled a faint burning...

My sister came in and told me that Teariffic's building had fire engines outside and there was smoke coming out of the building.

Wanted to let everyone know that nobody was hurt and Teariffic is still open for business!  Whew!
