PULQUERIA

The former Doyer's Vietnamese Restaurant has transformed into Pulqueria.

I was sad to see my favorite Vietnamese restaurant close down but I am a fan of Pulqueria.  Pulqueria has the same owners as the speakeasy Apotheke which is just next door.

The restaurant/bar opens around 6/ 6:30ish.  You need reservations for this place, but the second choice is the bar area which is just as swankified!

All of the cocktails that I've had here were delicious!  I especially loved their margaritas and red snapper tacos.

If you can't quite find the place, look for a lot of dressed up people in the middle of a block coming out of a walk up.

ALLIGATOR MEAT

Alligator meat has become popular in meat markets in Chinatown.

My Dad didn't believe me when I told them there was a claw on the meat.  This is actually something I don't know how to cook.  I had it as a child once down in Florida in some sort of pie.  I remember it tasting something like chicken.

PAPERDOLL BAND

My friend Teresa from Paperdoll was with me in Chinatown....

She loves CICF and bubble tea!  Teresa just came back from a tour which included Ireland and China.  She also landed the front cover of Asian Fusion magazine!  She best describes her music as No Doubt meets the Killers.

While back in NYC, she is going to be playing at the Mercury Lounge this Saturday on February 18th!

LINSANITY IN CHINATOWN

Chinatown LOVES Jeremy Lin!

Everyone is talking about JLin.  I came into work today and a group of girls were talking about Jeremy Lin giggling...

My Bayard Street neighbor Wallace is a sports fanatic so it's no wonder that you can watch J.Lin tonight at Hong Kong Station.    They have 3 TVS and lots of good food to choose from at great prices.  I kinda like this vibe better than a sports bar because not everyone drinks.  For drinks, I would be at Whiskey Tavern.

We all have LINSANITY in Chinatown!
